Study your Greek History. The Spartans were famous warriors trained in the art of war... the attack by Xerxes was real and the Spartans were grossly outnumbered. But because they funneled them into a narrow passageway, they were able to kill many of the persians attacking them. The movie stuck pretty close to the real story and the Greeks became known for their fight for freedom, honor, and duty.
