You're probably going to get a variety of answers on this one, because, as you may know, the word "magus" comes from Latin. There are at least two different ways to pronounce many Latin words.

The classical, original pronunciation of Latin is what is generally taught in Latin classes. This is from the language spoken 2,000 years ago in Rome.

However, over time, some sounds changed into what was used in church Latin or other common uses.

And then, when some Latin words transferred directly into English, there is a modern English pronunciation that may be different from either of these earlier two.

So you will get a variety of possible answers.

My answer for classical Latin would be something like "MAH guss," and modern English would probably have "MAY gus."

Cool book, either way.
