I'm trying to become a pop/r&b singer. Does anyone have tips on criticism, singing, etc?

1. Try to get the skills to make yourself different. Be creative. Write your own stuff, or co-write with an established writer. DO NOT COPY other acts you know.
2. Learn as many instruments as you can. (see #1)
3. Instead of trying to please everyone, especially at first, hit your groove and then branch into others.
4. Critics only want what they want. You go for what you want.

I took voice lessons. There was a lot of this, that, and the other thing. Looking back I can only remember one thing I personally consider useful, and it's simple. Other than that, I think you can either sing or you can't.

There is a natural human tendency to do something called scooping. You start off a little low and work your way up to the note. You sing "Huuappy birthday to you" instead of "Happy birthday to you." If you hold your diaphragm slightly taut, you can start right on key. Don't start worrying about your diaphragm. Be aware of the sound and that will come automatically.

That's what I learned in the school, but there's more in the world. There's also TV. There was a show with a voice coach and her students in recital. One after the other the students got up and showed off their technique, their perfect pear-shaped notes. At the end she told them don't show off your voice. Show off the song.

One last thing. When I quit smoking it made a lot of difference.

1. GET an agent and manager. Look around and research them too.

2. Take singing lessons.
- You make want to take piano or guitar lessons. They may help with the different keys, notes, tunes, ect...

3. Don't take the criticism to heart. Take it in and apply it to make you better.

4. Stand up when you sing.

5. Do breathing excercises daily.

6. If your going to be dancing well singing, go for runsand sing well running to practice.

7. Be patient.

8. Lesson to all genres of music, especially the old school. You will learn a lot.

9. Send out demos of your songs to record companies. All record companies everywhere.

10. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!!!!!! You can always get better.

11. Don't smoke. That will effect your breathing.

Develop a thick skin to criticism. Not everyone is going to like what you do and everyone has their own opinion on what is good and what is crap. Singers get the most scrutiny as they are expected to be perfect all the time. It is a game in which you really have to bring it every single time. It is a hard life but if you have the desire and the drive for it then the rewards can be amazing - good luck!

On my quest, I took a lot of high-priced voice lessons and saw no real results. I visited countless vocal coaches and, with each voice lesson, I only saw my range AND my bank account shrink.

Some only gave me more "stuff to remember" while I was singing ("Sing from your diaphragm!!", "Picture an egg in the back of your throat!!").

Others taught me to just belt it out as I went higher, until it caused that old familiar strain and then pain. Still others gave me the "proper" way to sing, making me sound like a misfit classical singer. (Classical singing is wonderful, but it wasn't my style at the time.) Sometimes frustration is the mother of invention.

It's very possible to learn to sing well. You just need to know the right methods. Learn here https://tr.im/gazua

Singing teachers will cost money and can be expensive so they're not for everyone. Singing can be learned so it's not an "either you have it or you don't" kind of thing.

Whether you sound like crap or you're decent, I recommend this singing course. It's one of the best methods to learn to sing well in a short amount of time. It's all about using efficient techniques that work.

the superb way at being a competent something calls for expertise, prepare and perseverance. on your case, you are able to the two take vocal education or prepare your self. start up with songs you already know and prepare hitting each and all of the notes completely, then circulate to extra problematic cloth

If you want to become a singer, you have to have a good voice (duh) and don't listen to what people think of you, and if you want to, send demo tapes to a lot of record companys.

I hope this helps! oh and don't have screaming fights before you sing...
