Babies are viable from 24 weeks and doctors will do everything they can to help them survive. Just recently there was a baby born at 22 weeks and it has survived, it is now 4 months old and is apparantly doing well. Obviously the further along the pregnancy is the better the chances of survival for the baby. From 30 weeks the chances of survival are pretty high. My boy was born at 34 weeks, he is now 1 year old and is perfectly healthy, he is still a little small for his age but other than that there is absolutely nothing wrong with him.

There was a baby born just recently here in florida and the baby was only 21 weeks. the baby was the size of a writing pin when she came out and just was released to go home...Babys born this early usually have some risks for learning dissabilities and breathing problems but can survive..At 21 weeks its rare a baby survives but it can happen like in this story...At 24 weeks and anything higher the chances of the babys survival are mugh greater. They also say that girls do much better when premature and surviving then boys do.,..

I had premature twins and the earliest I've seen for survival rates is 26 weeks. Anything before that has a harder rate for survival. They don't weigh more than a pound or two and can fit in the palm of your hand. An idea that you can do is call the local hospital that has a neonatal intensive care unit and ask them if they have any brochures that you can have on prematurity.

I work with preschoolers with disabilities, and the youngest gestation child that I have worked with in the preschool setting was born at 22 weeks. She had moderate mental retardation and some motor difficulties. Any fetus born before 34 weeks is considered a premature infant, but the younger they are, the less developed, the more likely they are to not make it. There are those miracle babies, that defy all odds, but they are few between those that do not make it.

It really depends on how mature the babys lungs are and how developed its organs are. The doctor will usually tell you that after the 23 week mark you are pretty safe for if you went into premature labor. With all of the new technology out there, the age gets lower and lower for premie babys surviving! Good luck with your project!

The most premature baby to ever live was 22 weeks premature. Babys aren't considered viable until at least 23 weeks. Happy Birthday Ameila Taylor! Good luck on your class project.

OK since this is for a class I am going to make you do the math. I am 20 weeks pregnant and as of April 9 my baby will be able to live outside me but with loads of help from the hospital I am due July 30th so how many months early is that?

What occurs even as children are born at below 28 weeks? Fewer than a million % of children in this u . s . are born this early, yet they have the most subject matters (a million). maximum of those children are born at fairly low birthweight (below 2 kilos, 3 oz). rather a lot all require remedy with oxygen, surfactant and mechanical recommendations to help them breathe. those children are too immature to suck, swallow and breathe jointly, so as that they could be fed through a vein (intravenously) until eventually they boost those skills. they typically can't cry (or you won't be able to listen them because of the tube of their throat) and they sleep truly some the day. those tiny children have little muscle tone, and maximum flow little or no. children born this early look very diverse than finished-time period children. Their epidermis is wrinkled and reddish-red in colour and is so skinny that the blood vessels below could properly be seen. Their face and body are lined in tender hair stated as lanugo. because those children have not had time to placed on fat, they look very skinny. likely, their eyes are closed, and they don't have any eyelashes. those children are at severe threat for one or more suitable of the topic matters reported above. besides the undeniable fact that, maximum children born after about 26 weeks gestation do live to inform the tale (about 80 % at 26 weeks), regardless of the truth that they could face a protracted stay contained in the toddler huge care unit (NICU) (13). Survival prices can determination a great deal searching on factors except gestational age. factors which could advance survival prices comprise larger birthweight, lady sex, historic previous of prenatal remedy with corticosteroids (drugs that % lung progression) and singleton beginning (no longer area of a twin or different different beginning) (14). regrettably, about 25 % of those very untimely children boost severe lasting disabilities, and as a lot as 1/2 could have milder issues, alongside with getting to understand and behavioral issues (15).
