Quarter horses are a great breed, gentle, patient, and enduring. Depending on the age, temperment, and managebility of the kid, maybe your question should be...

Would a kid be good for a quarter horse?

Quarter Horses as a whole are very good for children. However, as with any horse, it is important to match the skill level of the rider with the horse. Make sure both the horse AND rider are both well trained. I would recommend an older, expierenced mare or gelding, as they tend to be a bit more steady than a younger horse. Again, I cannot stress enough, make sure that your child has had the proper training. If you are not an expierenced horse person yourself, invest in lessons from a reputable trainer. A professional may also be able to assist you in choosing a horse after assessing your child's skill level

Quarter horses are just awsome horses and very dependible but like any horse you need to know the history of the horse. There are so many breeds you can choose from. They are my favorite but its all in how the horse was trained. If you are an inexperianced rider and you can ride it your child may try too.Becareful because many people I have run into have used products like Quietex and others which work like a tranquillizer for horses and when you get them home it has worn off and you have been duked.Ask all the questions you can or take a very experianced rider/cowboy/cowgirl with you to look for horses.Dont just buy for looks or because the horse is sweet when you are on the ground.Your childs life depends on your choice.Dont always take the horse owners word. You really should take some one experianced.Good luck and have them checked by a vet FIRST!

Yes! Get an older Quarter Horse, and it'll be great for a beginner or child. Make sure it is a nice quite horse. And I'd even look for a Trail Riding horse, they spook rarely. Depends on what you want it for, to show? Then look for a childs show horse. Quarter Horses are the best overall horse in my opinion. Just get a well trained one.

Well, in very general terms, yes. But you can't really judge by the breed. All the same rules apply, you still don't want anything to young, to green, or to high strung. I've know Quarter Horses tat were total babysitters, and I know quarter horses I wouldn't let any child near.

They make great kids horses, for the most part. Look for one that is dependable, older (over 10yrs), and has a lot of trail and show miles, especially for a beginner.
If you do not know much about horses, bring a trainer or instructor with you to check them out before you buy them. You also want to make sure that any conformational faults are ok for what you want to do.
We have a foundation QH that is essentially bombproof and we can throw anyone on him. His problem: he has a toed out hind foot, which can eventually lead to foot problems. We can't show him halter, but having a horse that is not going to buck my sister off in the showring (like another QH we had) is what we were looking for, and they do really well together.

It depends, my Quater Horse is a great kid's horse, but I've seen some pretty darn crazy Quarter Horses. So it COMPLETELY depends. Good Luck =D

In general yes,but it depends on the individual. For instance,I have a Quarterhorse mare that I would not trust with kids.(p.s. alot of retired rope horses make excellent kids horses)

Yes. They are very trustworthy and steady. Some mares can be very gentle with kids. They have wide backs so it is easier for kids to hold their balance. But most quater horses are western. If you decide to get one, try to find one that is good with kids and im sure that you will have a perfect match.

generally speaking, yes,
but there are sooooooo many exceptions that it is impossible to say.....
really the breed isn't that important, what is the the horse's temperament and training and height and the kid's experience
