How did the fued between John Edwards and Ann Coulter start?

I heard she called him an *** pirate recently. How did Edwards respond? Please provide a link that shows who said what first.

While addressing an audience at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) last Friday, Coulter joked in her trademark fashion that, “I was going to have a few comments on the other Democratic presidential candidate, John Edwards, but it turns out you have to go into rehab if you use the word ‘******,’ so I – so kind of an impasse, can’t really talk about Edwards.”

She didn't call him anything. So Edwards must have started the feud.
