i'm writing a story and am currently suffering writer's block. does anyone have any ideas for a story about a girl who moves to a small town w/ her single mother. i don't know what direction to take the story from there, i need to think of the details that would make for entertaining and original story. thats all i have at the moment, i know its practically nothing. any ideas would be appreciated and please don't post anything rude.

How old is this girl? Is she a teen or a child? Her mother is single, so the mother's dating could be a story line. If the girl is old enuf, maybe they could be dating together. I'm imagining the mother & daughter as being very close. The girl could have moved from a large city to a small town & be adjusting to that. How about a story line with the Dad - the girl doesn't know her Dad, but he comes into the picture. How about getting to know people in the town, the girl in school, the mom at work, they are misunderstood but wonderful people & it takes the small town a while to get used to their unconventional ideas. Just some ideas. Hope it helps & let us know when you're published. I'll buy & read your book!

Make them get into a car accident on the way to the super market, make the crash far from town so that the girl has to get back to town through big scary woods, as her mother is stuck in the car with injuries that mak it hard for her to move at all, then when the girl gets back to town, she gets help and everyone lives happily ever after.

make the girl go to school and confront bullies like...the popular girls! then make the girl confront tough situations like how to plan revenge on the popular girl and make the popular girl get revenge on her and vise versa. And since her mom is single we have to do somethin about that situation. Make her mom meet this guy somewhere and have a relationship with him. He could be a single man with a daughter too but heres the situation! the man is the father of the mean popular girl at school that the girl dislikes. So then make them team up and try to break up their parents! thats a good start! lol. You can probably think up the rest! HAPPY WRITING!

The boy has been DEAD for the last 20 years and only she can see him. And there is a Creepy dude that is interested in the mother and daughter. He killed the boy in the 1980's!!

I've always heard to "write what you know"-- base characters on a mixture of people & situations you've come across

"Call me Sami."

That should be your opening sentence; something similar worked for some guy named Melville or something.
