Democracy? Yes, the Iraqis (Shiites/Kurds) have no problem voting but there's a lot more to running a successful Democracy than just voting. And if the Iraqi Sunnis refuse to vote will there ever be a successful democratic govt. in Iraq? And if Bush's whole reason for keeping US troops in Iraq is so that the Iraqi Democracy/Govt. can stablize, what is the point of keeping US troops in Iraq if Democracy has about a 3% chance of succeeding?

The purpose of the surge is to make sure that the Iraqi state survives until January 20, 2009. Then Bush can say, "I didn't lose Iraq."

ya don't sound exactly receptive to any explanation,..but I'm gonna give this another shot....
the idea is to give each of the many cultural, tribal, ethnic variations in that country a fair representation in a Parliaments setting, so as to eliminate the single party domination and oppression of the population over there
.
Obviously, doing so is not in the interest of those who have been the privileged few...and they have allies whom they favor , and those also will resist... so... and this is apparently where you are loosing the ideology of democracy in that country.. so..in order to bring the entire country into the 21st century, and assertively modernize there Arctic belief systems, the US [and others] have determined it would be to the better interest of international well being, to insist on the country's capitulation and reorganization of political and cultural advancement ...

that's about as simple as i can put it, ... granted, we don't exactly sound like a symphony over here , our selves,...but then,,, we are a collection of over 100 cultures, and tribes, and nationality's, and races, and sects, and factions,..and that's a very Conservative estimate,... so... because
they consist of fewer than 30 such identity's, it doesn't seem impractical to assume they could manage ,and impliment a national improvement of some form of democratic governmental representation.

I am not a political analist, so there are some ignorant assumptions here, but generically, its prety accurate.

what number presidential applicants have ever placed their beginning certificate on public exhibit for all to make certain? could any of them have accomplished so what number whack jobs could claimed it to be a pretend? even as the Republican governor of Hawaii says that Obama became born in Hawaii why could I no longer have self belief him? excellent courtroom Justice Samuel Alito has at the moment upheld excellent courtroom Justice Antony Scalia's effective hostile to a California lady for bringing a frivilous lawsuit ( a "birther" case ) before the courtroom. those are 2 of the most conservative judges on the bench. excellent courtroom Cheif Justice John Roberts is arguably the in reality different Justice more suitable conservative than Alito or Scalia. the very truth of the count number number is that it may have taken an particularly large conspiracy from the time of Obama's beginning to hide that he became no longer born contained in the U.S.. they could have had to have a reason to attempt this and the in reality reason that includes ideas is they could could understand at Obama's beginning that he became going to run for president of the U.S. sometime. there is not any different reason which could count number number if he became born contained in the U.S. or no longer. i did not vote for Obama. i imagine he has accomplished a mediocre activity at perfect. this may no longer mean that i imagine absolutely everyone else could have accomplished a more suitable positive activity in the journey that they were president. McCain? No. He became the right guy for the activity in 2000. many stuff have replaced because 2000 and he has no longer adjusted to those cahnges. Ron Paul? I voted for him and yet i do no longer understand if he could have accomplished any more suitable positive with the activity than has Obama. Obama walked right into a hornet's nest even as he took place of work and that i'm no longer confident that anybody could have accomplished a more suitable positive activity of coping with the hornets than has Obama. McCain said the hornets drawing close the horizon and ducked and ran by technique of choosing Painland as his operating mate. He must have familiar that no man or woman of their suitable ideas could placed Palin able to develop into president if something got here about to him.

I would tend to agree with you. I think if their answer to a disagreement is to kill and dismember each other, then there is no chance that democracy can succeed in Iraq. They need to come out of the middle ages and enter the 21'st century.

We already know that the Iraqis have more intestinal fortitude than either the Democrats or Republicans and I dare say a bunch of the Iraqis have more damned sense than either party. Maybe they can pull it off.

Nobody expects Iraq to have a sable gov't. Here for the most part in the US the political parties do not kill each other. I agree with my opponents right to disagree but I am right and he isn't....sound familiar
