A real estate agent has no access to your credit report unless your agent is your loan officer therefor having access to your credit Other than this a real estate agent cannot pull your credit. So, tell your know -it -all you got your answers off of Yahoo. As for cramer the guy is out there flying with the space shuttle oviously he has had some bad experiences and needs to bash realtors who are trained professionals. We all try to be tolerant of folk like him

An real estate agent does not pull your credit. They will most likely ask you to talk to a mortgage broker, who then will pull your credit and get the loan application started.
Cramer A is a moron, do not listen to him. Most agents are out to help you not just after their commission. Sounds as if he had a bad experience with one. Also signing a buyers agency contract protects you as much as it protects the Realtor. If you took the time to sit with a qualified agent they would be able to explain the benefits to you. If you listen to idiots like cramer a on this site you will regret not having a buyers agent

The agent doesn't pull your credit, the Mortgage lender does. But only if you are looking to qualify for a home loan. If the purchase is a straight cash deal, there is no need to pull your credit.

If a Realtor is assisting you in finding a mortgage lender it would still be odd for their realty to do a credit check on you . If it is a rent-to-own type deal and they represent the owner then, yes definitely they will need a credit check.. Either way, somewhere down the line your credit will be checked.

Relators in my opinion have gone wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too far these days. They want you to sign a 6 month contract stating that you will only work with them and if you find a home on your own, you still owe them their comission. It's nuts! As for credit report, tell them to stick it! Seriously! Have you taken the time to see just how many of these oozing greedy agents there are out there? They are vulchers, all of them and a dime a dozen.

If one approaches you with any of this crap, simply smile and move on to the next. Relators are the most overpaid, under educated, greedy, people on earth! ALL THEY EVER FRICKEN CARE ABOUT IS THEIR COMMISION! NEVER EVER FORGET THAT!

THEY ALL HAVE THEIR OWN INSPECTORS, APPRAISERS AND GOOD OLE BOY BUDDIES WHO MAKE DEALS FLY THAT NEVER SHOULD. WHY? AGAIN ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS THEIR COMMISION! PERIOD!

They have to know what credit rating you have and if you have too much credit being used so you wont get in too deep and cannot make the payments or what type of payments can be made.

They need to know if you are elgible to waste their time. They usually ask you to get prequalified with a mortgage company of your choice. Then you bring them the certificate that says that you are prequalified for financing.
