depends on how old your system is. anything from 2000 on is 2.0 and backwards compatible. actually you can plug it in and it should work even at the lower speed

The best way to find out what your computer has is to google the make and model and find a site that advertises the specs.
Your ZEN will work on either USB 1.1 or 2.0. If you have only 1.1 on your computer then the file transfers will be really sloooooooooooow. You can upgrade to 2.0 by buying a USB 2.0 PCI card and installing it into a PCI slot. Remember that only the USB ports on the card will be USB 2.0. The computers own USB ports will continue to be 1.1.
But go google it first and see what you have.

Hi,
It'll work, even if your motherboard supports only 1.1 (three years or older). The 1.1 or 2.0 describe how fast the information can be exchanged between the connected media and your PC. Naturally, 2.0 is faster than 1.1, but either will work with Zen Vision M.
For details regarding USB speeds, see

TK

Right Click on My Computer, select Properties, go to your device manager, and see if anything in its tree/list shows the word "enhanced" next to its USB controllers or drivers... If it does, you have 2.0 USB capability. If your computer is less than two years old, chances are it has 2.0 drivers on it.

plug a usb 2.0 device into the port. if it's 1.1, the windows system will tell you that you plug a high speed device in to a low speed port

Do you NEED 2.0 or is it RECOMMENDED? 2.0 transfers faster than 1.1. You can check your version through system specs. I dont know where to go to find it exactly and it depends on your OS too.
