I just read an article that stated Lance Bass is going to pen his memoirs about his life, adversity, and struggles being an icon but not being able to express his sexuality. I personally have never found strength or my own courage from celebrities coming out, and it seems to often the make headlines. So my questions to anyone out there are:
1)Has a celebrity outing ever helped you in anyway?
2)How did you, what made you, find your own courage?

The pointlessness of celebrities getting headlines about being gay is my opinion, so I do not mean to offend those who find strength from it.

27 years is not enough time to write a memoir. I'm sure he is a nice person, but this is a joke. His PR people are riding the "gay-train" right now.

He does not represent anything that I care about or even remotely think about. Perhaps their thinking is "strength in numbers"? I guess that is one way of looking at it.

Well, some do. Since celebrities are worshipped the world over, especially American ones (come on, you all know it's true), it's inspiring to some when they come out, because a lot of people are going to be like, "Well Rosie was cool before she came out, so why not just go with it, and still enjoy her even though she's gay?"

I don't know. When celebrities come out, it seems to spread at least a little more tolerance, and regular Joes think that it'll be the same for them: everyone will accept them. It's a distorted view on reality, but hey! Whatever floats their boat and gives them peace of mind, eh?

It hasn't personally helped me, but I can see how it would help others. For someone who has the media spotlight on them, to admit that they are gay, which may put them in a bad light with the smaller minded portion of society, takes a lot of strength. To be who you are in the face of anyone, I can see how someone struggling to come out could find strength from that..

i dont think so but it helps other people to get used to homosexuality...the problem with homophobes is that for them homosexuality is something out of the ordinary, they live a life where everybody else is more or less the same, people tend to behave in the same way so they dont know how to react about what is new, and as regards homosexuality the easiest option is being aggresive since otherwise they could be accused of homosexuality themselves and threw away from the flock

i completely agree with you, personally, i've never found it more encouraging for me to come out simple because some celebrity guy comes out but i think its helpful in a subtle way. the more celebrities who come out, the more people will hear of seemingly hetero people revealing their true selves and hopefully this will breed some kind of awareness.

think of it like this, if your grandma in some small town in alabama hears that willie nelson is gay, she'll be outraged but it might get her losened up to the idea, it might get her talking about homosexuality and if you're brave enough you can jump in with the "but...I'm gay too" bit!

you be attentive to, i found the final definition of braveness in a e book with reference to the Spartans. the biggest theory is that braveness is the skill to end something even once you're apprehensive to do it. can we communicate approximately braveness if this is totally undemanding and not frightening to do ? somebody who isn't scared in any respect to speak in public isn't brave whilst he's going to speak in front of 20,000 peoples. this is undemanding for him, it would not ask braveness. The brave one is the guy who accomplish something that scare him to loss of life. Developping braveness is like each little thing, you ought to artwork it out gradually. initiate with little issues first that scare you and do it besides. you will experience the alleviation, you will experience the braveness you ought to end it and be pleased with you. braveness is an habit and conduct are equipped gradually. go forward dude !
