Our ice hockey team colors are black and yellow, so any fleece fabric that has those 2 colors would be great, especially if it has something to do with ice hockey. I want to make scarves for the coaches and assistant coaches. Any idea where I can find what I am looking for?

try ebay or your local fabric shop. Walmart, etc.
you could also get seperate colored fabrics solid colored like that and intwine them for a neat design!

Yes! Look for flannel instead. I think you will be able to find exactly the plaid you want.
