OK you go for an interview and the boss asks you what are your three weakest points. What do you say? Remember you do not want to come across as an idiot so what answers would you give? Are there any other cunning questions that you have encoutered at a job interview or have you anything you can share?

You always want to answer with a good attribute, but saying it in a way that makes it look like it could be viewed differently-such as, "I am very punctual, and so I often find myself waiting on others."." Or-"I always like to get things done ahead of time, and I put more pressure on myself that way." " I tend to be a perfectionist in my work, so sometimes I demand too much of myself."

When I interviewed potential candidiates, I liked to ask open ended questions. I used to ask things like-"Tell me about a problem you faced at work and how you solved it." or
"Describe your perfect job to me." or "Tell me about a difficult co-worker you have had in the past. How did you deal with him/her?" or "Tell me about 3 things you feel you have improved upon in your last job. Describe how you accomplished them." "If you could change one thing about your current boss, what would it be?"

Oftentimes these kinds of questions were VERY telling about a person! They made them open up and be more forthcoming about their personalities.

When you are asked this question, the interviewer is looking to see if you are honest with yourself and know your weaknesses....BUT, you can put a spin on it... here are mine:
1. I enjoy talking to people. Sometimes this can be distracting to the task at hand. I have learned how to politely extract myself from a conversation so that I can get back to my work.
2. Because I am confident that I can finish a task, I tend to procrastinate. Knowing this, I schedule my projects to get the difficult stuff out of the way first so that I can always finish my tasks on time.
3. I focus intently on projects. When I am "into" a project, I tend to ignore interruptions, questions, earthquakes!! I have learned to mark my "spot" and look up from a project to pay attention to the person interrupting me. However, I have also learned to go and apologize if I've offended anyone by ignoring them!

As you can see, I mark my weaknesses but also supply a "how I deal with this weakness" solution.

Employers want to know that YOU know your weaknesses and how to deal with them... ultimately, they want to know that you are going to WORK for them.

I would use...I can't count too well...I sometimes tend to set goals that may be out of reach...I'm a perfectionist...I continually think about a problem until I get it solved...I can expect more out of myself than I am capable of doing...
