So really...when is some lawyer/shark going to file a class action suit against the computer makers and Microsoft because they give you NO OPTION if you buy a new computer.

That's a fantastic point, but, the majority of consumers are buying, Dell, Gateway, HP, Compaq, etc which come with Vista preinstalled, so why not help the people with Vista questions. Sure we'd all love to buy a new laptop with XP Pro on it, but it's not going to work like that. Anyway, if you build your own computer systems, don't install Vista, ever, big waste of time and money.

Wow, that's really ignorant. You're generalizing everyone that uses windows into one caste.
Vista is pretty much one of the biggest flops I've ever seen. However, Microsoft is still going to make money on it, since they're going to force it onto everyone. Since DirectX 10 is only available for Vista, and most new games are going to be written for DirectX 10, you'll have to switch. I know I'm not going to be able to do much with my current computer, since it's almost a decade old. Yeah, it runs XP beautifully, but Vista is far out of the picture for my humble little Pentium II.

although windows vista has a lot of program compatibility issues, that does not make it a bad OS. i suggest waiting about 6 months until microsoft creates an update to allow vista more compatibility. this problem is due to the fact that vista runs in DirectX 10, and most programs are not built for that.

I never installed it, because I saw it becoming a disaster from the start, it is a memory shark and really besides the new style it is nothing but a new OS, I don't not see anything overly appealing, not to mention with all the device compatibility issues I wouldn't want it, besides I prefer that my computer not crash every 5 minutes because of a memory or bug error.

I've gone to Linux - a cool and powerful OS... the best Linux is PCLinuxOS

http://www.pclinuxos.com

The massive power of the Linux command line makes Windows look like a joke, and even Mac is far behind on command line power. The desktop of PCLinuxOS is great-looking and easy to use, and runs Firefox 2, enables flawless DVD movie playback (without region nag popups about what region the player is set for)...

You also get the stunning 3D cube desktop if you choose to enable it - take a look:

The wow starts now - but not with Vista! lol..

This issue would have no longer a valid point few years down the road, but now unless I can get the needed resources for free, give me XP Pro anyday.
