I saw some commercial on t.v. that was a non-perscription depression remedy that you could buy at CVS or Wal-Mart or something.

I have used Aurum Metallicum, a homeopathic remedy , with good results
I have tried St John's Wart but really didn't notice it helping...one thing about using herbs is that they take quite a while to "kick in"
I have foud homeothapy to be better in that regard.
I see that someone else gave you a whol list of homeopathic remedies which is ver y helpful.
I had feelings of worthlessness, etc, which is why I used Aurum Metalicum.

Good luck to you

first of all you want to research what you are taking. Walmart and CVS are not a good place to buy your suppliments. When i approached my depression with a natural remedy i got a blood analysis done first. I discoverd which suppliments my body was lacking. Definately work with a NP if at all possible.
then i went on a research rampage to find good effective products for my condition. My treatment started with a good cleanse (OXY Powder) then i added INTRAMAX( liquid Vitamin) and a in my case, allot of other supplimetns. I have been on a consistent regimen for three weeks now and i'm able feel the relief of the depression. It has helped calm my anxiety enough for me to really identify the feelings too. it's werid but i thought i';d never reach this point and i have. So be reassured that it works. Part of the treatment is supplimenting the other part is your belief system. Here is a good book that got me goi in the right direction.

Feelings buried alive never die. here is a website that has the book for purchase........ http://www.healingfeelings.com/

good luck! if you need support you got mine. email me if you need to talk.

I wanted to caution you about self-diagnosis and self-treating. St John's Wort is an herb that some believe helps those with a 'mild' depression. Please do talk with a therapist if you believe that you have depression. Clinical depression as well as bipolar disorder/manic depression are thought to be caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain that may need medication prescribed by a doctor (namely a psychiatrist who is a lot more well-versed in psychotropic meds).

I take the ssri (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor) antidepressant, prozac, for anxiety and clinical depression. (Just fyi, for those with bipolar/manic depression, ssri antidepressants can actually induce or bring on a manic episode.) I'm not sure how effective omega-3 fatty acids are on one's depression. Perhaps they think that it can enhance other treating medications(?) And if you are taking other meds, please check with your pharmacist for possible drug interactions.

Depression is something that should not be taken lightly. If you or someone you know is depressed, please first get professional guidance! St. John's Wort has clinical studies showing that it can be effective in mild to moderate depressions. However, St. John's Wort can interact with many medications. So, one also needs to know if there will be other medications being taken while on St. John's Wort.

It was probably Omega 3 fish oil, and the results aren't in yet. If you are really depressed and have been so for more than two weeks you should talk to your doctor. Don't try to treat it yourself. If some of these crazy things were so effective, everyone would be using them.

Beware of products advertised on TV. If a company has enough money to advertise on TV they are in business to make money. Follow the money for your answer. There are two things that effect depression. A weak liver and a tired mind. The liver can be cleansed with herbs and vitamins. The mind can be cleansed with mantra meditation. Good luck in your search.

The herb, St. John's Wort is often recommended for depression. Don't know if it works... It is available in most wal-marts and other drug stores, as well as at health food stores
