I wouldn't want to live in any civilization before 500 A.D. as an ordinary citizen. If I could live as royalty, before that time, I believe I would choose Egypt. Of course I would want to be Nefertiti or Cleopatra. Both, according to historians, had an extraordinary life.

I would choose to live as a Carian, a people that lived in a region of Anatolia, before the time of the Greeks. 1250 BC. My Deity would have been a form of the goddess Hekate. In fact I would have chosen to become high-priestess of Hekate.

Athens at the height of its golden age, and at least one lifetime before the Spartans razed the city.

I would want to be a citizen, too. Non-citizens were mostly slaves.

Athens was home to pioneers in mathematics and science. I would greatly love to associate with people like that.

And of course I would NOT own any slaves. I wouldn't be able to do anything about the slave economy myself, but I could at least do my own part.

Medieval times! There would be so much to do and so much going on. I could go to the marketplace, watch the knights and archers train, become a solider in the king's army, and travel to places that were said to have treasures concealed in them. So much to do there.
