What are you interested in? I can't imagine a parent would be upset by a teenager reading any novel. There are a great deal of excellent "Young Adult" (I hate that classification of the genre, but it is often necessary to differentiate) books out there that are of high interest to high school students, and would be okay with parents. Try these: Shooter by Walter Dean Myers; The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom; To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee; any of the Harry Potter books; Snow Falling on Cedars by Guterson.

I hope this helps.

Any book should be fine with parents, it's usually a miracle nowadays to actually see a teenager/child reading, especially for pleasure...
