When do you start fertilizing your roses in the spring (Colorado)?

Question

I was wondering when should you start feeding and fertilizing your roses? I know you should stop feeding them around the first freeze. But when do you start again? I live in Denver, if that helps, Thanks!

Feed roses twice.Once at the start of the new growth and once mid season.
Use a proprietary rose feed or,if available,feed with manure/both.
Roses are hungry plants and quickly exhaust the nutrients in the soil.A top dressing of manure,lightly forked in will help moisture retention and act also as a weed suppressant.
Control of black spot/mildew/aphids will require a combined pesticide/disease compound which needs spraying every two weeks if you have this problem where you live.

you should start to feed them when they start to show new bud growth on the stems, you should feed them again about a month or so later as well, if you take off the spent blooms then it will encourage the plant to keep flowering, there are different types of roses, traditional english hybrid tea roses and floribundas, both need feeding to eliminate black spot

hi there im from the uk and a experienced gardener depending on the condition of your soil i would suggest plenty of mulch and chicken minure roses are very hardy i feed my roses reguarily and just before winter prune roses especially climbers and hybrid tea roses and apply lots of slow release granule feeder roses thrive on extra feeding i had blooms throuout winter hope my advice helps

Fertilize after any danger of frost. There is no need to push growth too early and if you do the tender new growth will be suseptable to frost damage.
