I just had a miscarriage with twins on Wednesday. And now my breasts are soo sore because they are producing milk. How long does it take before that goes away?

I'm so sorry for your loss. I don't know how to make your breasts dry up because I'm still breastfeeding, but to tell you the truth, I think I would pump my milk to donate to a milk bank, so that a good thing could come out of such a tragedy.

If that's not something that you would want to do, express just enough milk to relieve the pressure. Here's a link to a website with some herbs that you can use to decrease your milk supply:

First, allow me to extend my apologies for your loss.

Second, the brest problem will go away with in the month. I suggest that you:

Wear a bra at all times (a sportsbra will probably be more comfortable and it will keep the pressure off & give some support), take some over the counter anti inflamatory medication like tylenol or motrin, and rest as much as possible.

If the pain doesn't begin to go away in a week, you might want to see your doctor.

Oh you poor thing! I can't believe that happened to you, you sound so strong! I hope the best for you!

The engorgment will go away in a few days.
Don't pump it.
When they are really hard you can take a hot shower and have the our breasts under the hot running water. You can squeeze them a little to release some of the milk.

Good Luck

When I gave birth to my daughter, I chose to bottle feed her. To dry up my breast milk and reduce the soreness, I used cabbage leaves. Just tear off a cabbage leave and put them on each breast in between your breast and your bra. Within a week or two the milk should be dried up. I'm so sorry for your loss, and I wish you the best.
