Because that's not how the Constitution requires laws to be made.
Congress makes the laws. We elect Congress. That's why we're a democratic republic, and not a pure democracy.

Because the politicians know that we the people will vote to shut down the borders, and to remove all illegals. We are tired of OUR hard earned money going to them when they are not legal citizens. As well as the government protecting known drug smugglers. The democrats do not want to shut down the borders......they want all illegals, and they want to give them the right to vote in our elections......so this means that every every one from other countries who are here can vote in our elections.....even if they just happen to be here on a visit......I mean they may be a visitor....but they are legally visiting, and they could also be a terrorist, and they too would have to privilege to vote for our president. so don't say oh well they are only going to allow the illegals from mexico.....they cannot do that......that would be wrong.....it would be wrong to allow some illegals the right to vote and not all people here visiting legally.....or terrorist.....and those who have all teh correct paper work to be in our country.

It would like passing a law that allowed a certain group(the illegal immigrants) to violate the law and,letting the people vote to allow this violation of the law. It is not politically correct and that would be a travesty of justice!
