OK here's what I plan to do. Have my 5 min. informative college speech be on fast food. And my 8 min. persuasive be on why we shouldn't eat fast food. But I am not sure how to start on my informative speech. Any ideas? I'm thinking I need to provide history of fast food -from the automat-to McDonald's etc. but I am not sure what my other points should be? Should I inform about the working conditions/low pay in the fast food industry or keep that for the persuasive speech? Any ideas would be wonderful, as I need to get this done and quick! Thanks!

Ty for all of the answers so far. I just got done watching supersizeme for the 2nd time. I have a feeling my persuasive speech with the health aspects will be easy. I'm just not sure what else to include in my infomative speech aside from the history of fast food.. I need to do a powerpoint too and this will be like the 1st infomative speech *aside from one in highschool* that I've ever done! AHH so I'm scared

There was a popular documentary called Supersize Me. One man ate McDonald's for 30 days and nearly died. Go to
http://www.supersizeme.com/ for more information. Also, on the McDonald's website, they offer the nutrition facts here:http://www.mcdonalds.com/usa/eat/nutrition_info.html
Mention the high levels of fats and calories. And, research the health risks that follows eating unhealthy, like fast food. Adding the U.S's obesity problems will also help.
For your first five minutes, talk about the history of fast food and the most famous fast food restaurants: McDonald's and Wendy's.

Talk about the history (make sure you cover what is considered 'fast food' and why), who eats it and why, and how fast food impacts our society - also, depending on the assignment, you may want to talk about why you picked this particular topic if it relates to other points.
As a speech and debate coach, I just want to say that it sounds like you're doing a lot of research, which means that you'll know your topic. Make sure that you organize your information beforehand. If you're really worried, or if you have had problems with public speaking before, write out a speech or some more thorough notes and actually practice it in front of a mirror (and make sure to practice with your powerpoint presentation also). Don't forget to *relax* - you'll do fine.

Watch the movie Supersize Me. It should give you a lot of good points. I remember the automats well. They were so much fun. As a kid I loved looking in all those windows at all that different food and picking out what I wanted. By the way -- the Horn and Hardart Automat made the best macaroni and cheese in the world! You can google and get the recipe.

hi, u have to make a short list of the things YOU personlly think it is bad to eat fast food, in term of the side effect on the humen being body and brain, the contains of oil which can cause cancer, heart problems, waight gaining...etc and by the way fast food can cause a real moody mood.
and you can add to your speach a littil solution for the fast food providers, as creating a healthy food choices + encouraging people to swich to the healthy food range, either by giving vourchers or discount toukins!!!
good luck ;)
