Many writers have been accused of making up a lot of events and characters in their memoirs. Do you think this is right or wrong?

Memoirs are non-fiction; therefore, they are always real and true. Any story that creates characters or events that are not true is called fiction. You must decide if you want to write a book which is either fiction or non-fiction. You may also choose to compose a story which is biographical fiction.

Obviously you are talking about A Million Little Pieces. It is wrong to present something as a memoir when it is fictionalized. Instead, present it as fiction based on the life of the author. Otherwise you deceive the public.
