In my opinion, it does not matter in the grander scheme of things. The bugs will get worked out and patches sent out, so major bugs will be ironed out. The major issues have been machines that do not have the proper technical specifications, IE, not enough memory.

Right now is a pretty good time to purchase computers. There are some above average deals and coupons available until 3/15. You can find them at http://www.24houredeals.com/Dell-coupons-23-mer.html

Good luck.

I'd wait about 6 months to get a Vista PC, so they get the bugs ironed out. However, don't try and upgrade from XP. Most people I know who did that have had problems. Also Vista reccommends a minimum of 512MB RAM, You really need 1GB (preferaby 2 if you have the budget) for best results and all the new gimmicks.

My personally opinion, do NOT get vista yet. Its buggy and theres also a lot of crap like you can only use microsofts security software that is actually worse than some freeware programs. I would wait until kernel access is opened up for second/third party security software.

EDIT- theres also a lot of other stuff such as hardware incompatibility. But thats not a problem with a new pre-installed system. But there is some stuff like vista will disable hardware if the drivers were not signed by microsoft.

why not buy one with XP on it for now and than get Vista in a 6 months to a year. this way the bugs are fixed and other companies have written drivers for the software compatiblity.

Dell, but stick with XP

If you don't need a new PC yet, I'd recommend waiting unless you don't mind bugs. It gives more time for software to be optimized for Vista as well.

Go beyond vista, get a MAC instead. You wont have to worry about bugs and other hassles on a MAC. Check the apple website out at www.apple.com

i agree with the others.. just wait it out, if your pc parts are getting old, go ahead and update them, it's going to be awhile before the next Service pack... windows xp is alot better still than vista

Wait. Vista requires 4Gigs of memory. I don't see computers being sold with that much. I don't think the computers being sold can hold that much.

I know what your thinking. If Vista requires 4Gigs, how can they sell computers with only 2 or less gigs?

I don't know. But I wouldn't buy one!
