i used to work for lube stop. i would recommend a high mileage oil, made for vehicles over 75,000 miles. mobil 1 and kendall produce such oil. in the winter, i would use 10w30 and 5w30 in the summer, it will not hurt the engine to switch between the two.

The only real benifit to using a sythetic oil is longer oil change intervals. If you have a high mileage vehicle as you described I would just use the oil that is recommended in the owner's manual, probably a 10w-30.Any name brand oil is ok ( I use Castrol start up).And change the oil every 3000 miles. For more info on engine oil and other car maintenance topics go here.

That many miles I would use 10/40 or 10/50 .
Synthetic is hi priced for not much binifits for that type of milage.
As for brand any name brand is good. it needs to be the grade recomended on the dipstick. SF,SH, or simular the oil companies do keep them updated well.
Just keep it changed about 3-5000 miles
THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS TO KEEP THE OIL CLEAN.

I have an 84 Camry LE and I have always used Castrol 10W 40. It works the best and doesn't gunk up your engine.
