Usually if a bunch of teens are going to see a movie together, they can have one or two buy the tickets for a group and hand them to their underage friends. Some ID checkers only look for the year, but I don't know if that's a good tactic. I didn't see an R-rated movie alone when I was younger because I didn't have my own transportation to the theatre, but I think that if you buy a ticket for the child, he could still be able to see the movie. I think it's just that a parent/guardian has to purchase the ticket.

I think this is the stupidest rule they ever made. If a 16 year old has consent from a parent they should be able to see it.,Its not like their trying to see it with out a parent consent. The only way I know that you could get the 16 year in is buy the ticket with them somewhere else then they can get in once they have the ticket they usually don't check IDs and if they do you can always do what my son`s friends mother did.,She just bought all the tickets and one for her self and went in then let without seeing the movie.
It cost a little more but they all got to see the movie.

If you go and say that you give your child permission to go, they might possibly let him in, but it is still a little iffy. I'm 15 and they let me go in with my friend once to an R movie when my parent's gave their consent but did not physically come in the theater.
