I personally can not stand them. I just finished watching The longest Yard with Adam sandler, I wanted to shoot myself about halfway through this piece of cinematic crap.

Other atrocious films that fit into this category would be The benchwarmers (I didn't even finish it), Ron Burgundy, Talledega Nights, basically anything with Will ferrell (with The college flick he did and The club movie being an exception, mediocre at best, note that I don't even remember the names of those flicks).

Jim carrey's early works also fall into this category (I used to like as a teenager, I guess I was simpler then, although his recent venture into dramas and more plot oriented comedies are somewhat impressive (truman show, majestic, the mind flick, and the new one he's doing now).

I don't understand why hollywood keeps cranking these movies out. They are horrible.

Don't get me wrong, I can appreciate a good comedy as long as there is a plot, and it makes sense, make it real not over the top.

A good example of a good comedy movie would be Meet the parents; That kind of situational comedy can be related too, there is a plot. It makes sense.

But when you release something like Date Movie, or Scream........oh god! I know they're parodies but c'mon.

What do you guys think?

I find most comedies torture to sit through. I don't think they're near as funny as people make them out to be, especially the popular ones. And I have been told by many that I have a wicked sense of humor so it has nothing to do with being uptight.

I think that there are movies for most everyone, you just need to find the best ones for you. While I agree with you on everything Will Ferrel has done (except Stranger Than Fiction which looks interesting and might be a turning point, but which I haven't seen), somebody must be liking it, so I'm happy for them.

It takes all kinds....

Although I prefer thoughtful, well-written comedies, there are times when I just have to put on something like "Airplane", "Joe Dirt", "Little Nicky" or episodes of "The Three Stooges" just to "keep it real" for myself.

It's the bad movies that let us appreciate the good ones.

Oh, the college movie Will Ferrell was in is "Old School". I have a copy. It's sitting on a shelf next to "Shakespeare In Love", "The Matador", "Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels","Young Frankenstein", "The Terminal", "My Man Godfry" and "The Jerk", and all the rest of the movies of varied pedigree.

I completely agree with you with exception to Will Ferrell. I think Will is hilarious but his comedy is only liked by certain people. He sort of has more of an Americanized British kind of comedy style. But all the other movies you listed were f-cking horrible. I don’t even think they try anymore. As long as they got some famous comedian in it the studio passes it. I also have the same problem with all the horrible f-cking horror movies coming out. They make one good one and decide to make sixty horrible sequels.

I get what you're saying. Some movies seem like a waste of money. It's as if thier trying to damn hard to be funny and it ends up being really stupid. Like White Chicks & Scary Movie 4. Dumb. But I still love I'm Gonna Get you Sucka and DON'T BE A MENACE to South Central while drinking your Juice in the Hood.

It's really simple. Money from these movies makes it possible for studios to fund the production of the many other movies who don't turn a dime, or those that might receive critical acclaim, but not much widespread audience attention.

i will provide you 3 categories: Black and White- The economic employer Dick, WC Fields. foreign places Language- Mon Oncle, Jacques Tati present day - The manufacturers, Mel Brookes (the unique, no longer the remake of the diploma teach). possibly critics and awards electorate do no longer see them as being serious sufficient, which has a tendency to forget approximately approximately very serious comedies like Chaplin's the great Dictator or Kubrick's Dr Strangelove.
