They say it should be avoided by the 4th month. Sleeping on your stomach is very very uncomfortable as u get bigger and u start to think about maybe your squishing your baby etc. sleeping on your back causes everything to press against your major organs and blood vessels and cause the baby not to get enough blood flowing to the placenta which can lead to low levels of oxygen...it is highly recommended u sleep on your right side which is the best way to keep the blood flowing freely...so either side is ok as long as its not on your back or tummy.good luck!

nothing happens in the early stages or pregnancy. farther down the road when you sleep on your stomach (or attempt to sleep on top of that basketball God blessed you with! haha) it can put too much pressure on the vein in your back that supplies the rest of your body with blood. it can cause blood pressure problems, breathing problems...lots of bad stuff. The same goes for your back. The baby is too much pressure on that vein. Sleeping on your left side is the best option!!! It helps provide the most blood flow back to your body and can help you breath a little easier too which is a HUGE blessing towards the end of pregnancy!

I wonder the same thing. They say you should sleep on your side by the 4th month, but before that you can. Once you reach 16 weeks you have to sleep on your right-side. It gets less comfortable when you reach 16 weeks anyway. You can squish the baby they say if you sleep on your stomach and if you sleep on your back it's bad for your internal organs. Ask your doctor maybe (s)he will tell you more. Good luck! Feel free to e-mail me if you find out anything!

when your pregnant, none of the rumors you hear are ever true. so, if you think you might harm the baby while sleeping on your stomach, trust me you won't. the baby is protected by the womb. the only thing it feels when your laying down is nothing. all you my feel is a bad cramp in the morning because the pressure that the baby puts on your muscles.
NOW THATS WHATS UP!

Nothing really, but I'll give you a tip...I have always been a stomach sleeper, so when I got too big to sleep fully on my stomach, I would kind of shift to one side and pull one of my knees up and hold a pillow there to keep me comfortable.

In the first trimester it doesnt matter you should just sleep however you can, latter on in the 3rdtrimester your uterus will put preasure on major ateries in your back if you sleep on your back, makes me dizzy but it wont do any harm if you can stand it chances are you dont have a problem, as for sleeping on your stomache latter on forget it, it is physicaly impossible,

Nothing. I slept on my stomach through my pregnancy with my first child and delivered a full term, healthy baby girl 2 years ago.

I was told to stop after the fourth month. My guess is because you might actually crush the baby under the weight under its own mother. Ouch!

no longer something will ensue on your toddler in case you sleep on your abdomen. you may sleep on it as long as you're comfortable doing so. as quickly because it get uncomfortable for then you sleep in yet differently. do exactly no longer sleep on your decrease back in view which would be risky on your toddler. good success!

If it is comfortable for you, then it shouldnt harm the baby. If you are laying on your stomach because you are drunk, then that is a problem.
