Split squad - A and B games, which is one of the reason spring training games aren't televised until after 3-14 when most players are released to the minor leagues. The game will mostly feature players still trying to make the team or have the manager look at them for a possible call up later in the year. You usually won't see Vlad or GA in many of these games, it also gives the pitchers some innings to work on control - so they don't bean Ordonez in the head...

Split Squad (SS) Games they split the Teams up into Two, so they can play two Different Games with two Different Groups of players, see which is going to the Big Leagues and see which is going to the Team's Farm System.

Split squad, half the teams plays one team, the other half plays the other. And joining the split team are minor league prospects.

It is possible because each team is broken up into two seperate teams. This makes it so the team has more time for the players to play.
