The factory filter has 1 in tube and 1 out tube. The new filter has 1 in tube and 2 out tubes, but is identical in size to the old filter. I took the new and old filters with me to autozone, and advanced auto. Both stores told me the new filter is the correct one. Could this have been a recall issue or something? We bought the car new and never replaced the filter until now so i know its not something someone rigged together.

if you can blow air through he filter by mouth then it is still good. Sounds like there is a defect in their catalog. If you were the original owner you would have been notified of any recalls, the only one that comes to mind is the head gasket recall.
Try buying it at the dealer.

B is correct in what she says. When your in the store. why don't you look up the correct fuel filter part number in the filter catalog. It's listed in the same catalog as air filters and oil filters. If you still have the problem, go to your C/D/J dealer store
