Because they are IDIOTS!

Peer pressure isn't a factor, you can just say no.....unless they have a gun to your head then sure "peer pressure" lol Id rather look good when I'm older, not like I used drugs religiously as a child.

I really don't think that it has anything to with peer pressure. I'm too dam old now to relate to kids. But I was once a kid!

Drugs were not prevelent in my area when I was younger. But to tell you the truth, and I really don't know why now, I couldn't wait until Friday and Saturday nights to find a store that would sell me beer.

I ,as well as my other friends, were not stressed out and needed a fix. We just did it. It was fun.

It is a much different world today than 50 years ago. The heavy drugs of today are prevelent. Three of my nieces, when they were younger than 10 years old, were nothing short of Angels.

Then something happened to all of them. Maybe, their parents had a lot to do with it. Their parents were not the best. I don't know.

But my 3 nieces all died of overdose or complications from drugs. Sad to say the least.

I have 3 grandchildren. All under 18. I am very close to them. I was a tough guy with my Daughters. When they were growing up I told them many times...don't do drugs and don't bring Skunks home!

I know that they experimented with Marijauna...but only for a short period. Neither one liked alcohol.

Both Daughters are great. One is a Civil Engineer and the other is a Pharmasist.

Please sit down with your kids and tell them the horror stories that will be the result of drugs.

But the most important thing is to hug them and tell them that you love them...and want them to be with you always.

Sorry if it sounds corny, I just don't have all the answers...except telling them everyday that you love them...that's what I did.

I did drugs for a few years while I was a teen, and this is what I will tell you. Teens do drugs because either they think it will make them cool, or it will help them feel better. Kids at that age are sleep deprived, a lot of times depressed, and when someone offers you something that supposedly will make you feel better, you take it. You do that a couple of times and you are addicted. You arent thinking about the consequences of your drug use. Once you are addicted, you need drugs. Trying to quit drugs for a serious addict is like a normal person trying to stop breathing.

Most kids do drugs because they want to fit in, some do it for attention and some do,do it because they are having trouble at home. We will never understand why kids do drugs, we just have to help them through it and not criticize them.

Some smart and rich kids, with the most proper of families, still do drugs. It is certainly not only the kids who have an absent parent, an abusive parent, live in poverty, or are doing poorly in school.

-Curiosity (kills the cat)
-Peer pressure (dumb, dumb, dumb)
-Being told "NO", makes them wonder "WHY, no?"
-"everybody else does it" --want to fit in

We have ads all over (TV, radio, billboards, newspapers, schools, doctor's offices), telling them the dangers of drugs, and yet some kids still want to do them. This is a good reason for parents to really be on top of things at home--and to know where their children are at all times. Parents should know who their children's friends are, and the parents of those friends.

Part of the reason is cultural. Modern adolescents live in a drug-dependent society. They see adults using caffeine to wake up in the morning, cigarettes to cope with daily hassels, a drink to calm down in the evening, and other remedies to relieve stress, depression, and physical illness. Recent reduced parental, school, and media attention to the hazards of drugs may explain the recent upsurge in adolescent drug taking.

For most young people, substance use simply reflects their intense curiosity about "adultlike" behaviors. Research reveals that the majority of teenagers dabble in alcohol, tobacco, and marijuana. These minimal "experiments" are not headed for a life of decadence and addiction. Instead, they are psychologically healthy, sociable, curious young people (Shedler & Block, 1990). In a society in which substance use in commonplace, some involvement with drugs is normal and to be expected.

Yet adolescent drug experiementation should not be taken lightly. Because most drugs impair perception and thought processes, a single heavy dose can lead to permanent injury or death. And a worrisome minority of teenagers move from substance "use" to "abuse"--taking drugs regularly, reguiring increasing amounts to achieve the same effect, and finding themselves unable to stop.

Sometimes young people who abuse drugs are seriously troubled young people (this is true for any age, but especially young) who express the unhappiness through antisocial acts. Peers are also a great influence. Sometimes the troubles, exaserbated by substance abuse to wrongly "remedy," self-perpetuate continued or increased abuse.

Unfortunately..the drugs are out there and kids are probably just trying to experiment with things that they truly know nothing about. They think you are going to feel sooooo great - maybe you do for a little while but, you ALWAYS feel like absolute CRAP afterwards!! Peer pressure is also a big factor.

There are no excuses for kids who do drugs, but I think it is a cry for attention. If their parents find out their kids are doing drugs, all the attention is on the kid then.

kids usually do drugs because of peer pressure or because like u said family issues ... i do not now why this would make them feel better but it does but in a way it really doesnt because they are screwing up their future because of their parents mistakes... when you are high you get happy and i think it is kind of like a haven for them not having to face the problems of their life but none of our lives are perfect but we all arent doing drugs are we....

in the beginning, because of the fact they have been around people who seel drugs all their existence, they think of that's the element of do; ordinary and speedy money. some do it because of the fact they have hardship at domicile, so as a replace of being at domicile they pass out into the streets the place there is a few of those drug sellers who handle em like kinfolk before each thing and quickly the infants are in touch in merchandising drugs.
