How does it work in one party democracies.

Its more complex than that. A lot of the fixing is done in the manner of selecting the voting districts, "safe" districts etc. IMO the main deciding thing is whether an absolute majority has to be achieved in the first vote.
Personally I prefer a multitude of parties, but the US system does make many things simpler. Just watch their hands...

BTW- There ain't no such animal like a "one party democracy". You get more freedom and democracy in a Mafia gathering.

There are no 1 party democracies. The more parties, the more complicated things get.

yes. because more people with more ideas come forward and shall we say clean out the toilet canidates from other parties. personally I think today's parties need a good flush.
