Congratulations for acknowledging you need assistance. I would ask your teacher for help. You could see if your local newspaper carries spelling bee lists and have your parents practice correctly spelling the words from the list.

Good luck - with you great attitude in wanting to succeed - you will!

Someone suggested reading... I'd say reading too, but try reading aloud - yes, even to yourself - then you will become more familiar with the sounds of letters and how words are spelt, so that when you are writing, it becomes much easier.

Ask for help whenever possible. Use a dicitionary. Buy a pocket dicitionary that you can take with you when you know there is a chance of you writing. Even take time to read the dictionary and pronounce the words aloud to, once again, become familiar with the sounds.

Also, here's a good method; it's called, ''Look-read-cover-repeat-check''. What you do is you look at a word, read it aloud, cover it up, spell it out and then check it to see if you are right. That's an excellent way of learning yourself.
And also, if you teacher or your parent, or even sibling won't mind - ask them to set you some words each day to spell, and do this ''look-read-cover-repeat-check thing'' and then get them to check over them for you.

These things won't work overnight because you have to keep at it. Good luck!! :-)

Alright. So how would you like to learn to improve your spelling? I suggest you read. Reading is great, I love to read. Reading is better than watching movies. It seems like there would be no drastic change in your spelling efficiency, but after a while, you will be very good at spelling.

Start working your way through the dictionary, looking at the spelling and meaning of words then practice how you might use them in a sentence or conversation. It may take awhile but you'll learn

Read. Read. Read. Quality material, not newspapers and magazines and internet trash. Read quality literature.

Tell your respected English teacher what you would like to accomplish and ask for help. Good spelling is important in making first and subsequent impressions.

You will not progress in my employment if you appear illiterate because I will not put you or your work in contact with my clients. And you will not keep your job with me if you prove to be illiterate. I have terminated the employment of nice people who have snuck in under the radar and have turned out to be weak on their reading and writing and interpersonal communicatin skills.

Good luck. It's a noble goal.

Start with simple newspapers, and buy a dictionary. You'll have to take up classes at some point though.

See if your local council runs an adult literacy course and contact them for further advice.

They should run courses for different levels of skill.
