I might receive money when a family member dies, most likely in the near future. I care about this person very much although don't love him. I feel guilty for thinking of how I might spend this money should I receive it. Am I terrible or human?????

Well I think it's human to consider it, but talking about it to ppl would be very distasteful.

Someone did you a great diservice by telling you that you might inherit some money. This really takes ambition out of the quotient and causes all kinds of problems within the family.

Best advice I could give you is FORGET ABOUT IT. Stay in the here and now.
