I am writing a paper on comparing and contracting the North VS. the South..any tips or suggestions on the difference..please help on what i should say and start it out i am drawing a blank....PLEASE Help!

The SSgt's post has some great ideas...

Include resources, manpower, import/export values...

If you REALLY want to get tricky, you can talk about how a strong central government helped the Northern states decide and act more decisively than a weak confederated government could...

EDIT: Ah! Lifestyles! Well, remember, the North had a lot of industrialization and was very Protestant, small farms, no slaves, a lot of big cities. The South was very agrarian, individual farms, big plantations, slaves, not that many big cities. You could compare people like Grant and Lee, Joshua Chamberlain and J.E.B. Stuart or just pick two soldiers from The Civil War series by Ken Burns and contrast them too...

The north was basically an urban / industrial society..
The south was more a rural / agricultural society...
Which is why the North won the war...
Lack of heavy industry in the South...

strength of generals and strength of soldiers

Outside help such as the british and french.
