This would most likely be a Hard Drive issue. You might want to stop everything your doing to avoid further damage just in case. If you have important work on it I'd advise you get it off ASAP and try to get it fixed by a professional.

When you say it stalls, do you mean that eventually it loads, or doesnt load at all? If it eventually gets on, I would make backups of all the important stuff in case it crashes, which is what it sounds like its about to do.

change out your hard drive before it crashes.....
