Not sure how often it is updated, but keep in mind that they can't update the whole world in one day. Though an area you are looking at may be five years old, another area may be more recent but doubtfully up to yesterdays date..

The most recent version plus (you have to pay) is updated about every month or every two weeks or so. The average version (most likely the free version you are using) hasn't been updated for the last five years as far as I am aware.
No it is not updated every day though.
