It doesn't.

There's no limits on the economic system, except as defined in Article I Section 8 regarding the powers of Congress.

The closest you get is in Article IV and the 5th Amendment, where there is an implied guarantee of the right of individuals to own property. That would prohibit a pure communist system, where all property was owned exclusively by the govt.

But anything less, as long as individuals are allowed to own property, would be constitutional.

It doesn't. However, we have built up sets of laws over the years, such as the UCC (Uniform Commercial Code) that effectively ensure a capitalist system.

The problem with other systems, like socialsm, is that the goverment has too much control (like in a monarchy). Ever heard the term, "Aboslute power corrupts absolutely?" Having a government oligarchy control the flow of money versus a king is different by degree.

Many socialst/communist countries also suppress freedoms, such as press & religion. This would go squarely against our Constitution.

It doesn't say anything about Capitalism. But since capitalism is all about Freedom of Markets it fits in very well with freedoms in the US constitution. As opposed to socialism which takes away freedoms.

It doesn't, just like it doesn't say that it was okay that a select part of the "free" population were supposed to be "slaves". Interesting how that works, isn't it?

Common sense says that it is, since the other "isms" (socialism, communism, fascism, etc..) have proven through history that they don't work. Care to test them out AGAIN? Not me. Get a clue........
