Luckily, I have very understanding coworkers and bosses so I don't have to lie. Plus with 5 weeks of PTO, a day here or there really doesn't matter.

If I am sick, I just call in and tell someone in my office and the school I am scheduled for that day. I am a traveling teacher, working with one student at a time on special needs. I don't require a substitute if I am out sick.

At my previous job I usually planned to have someone cover my post as I was a security supervisor.

I would just tell him I'm sick, if it ever happened. I would never lie to my boss, and that is why he respects me.
