Of course they have minds, don't insult me. I meant you know like being able to make emotional ... objecitive connections to things in certain situations.

I don't know about articles. I suggest you check out National Geographic website.

I see them having minds - intellects - because we have seen them use sticks as tools to dig for termites and have used rocks to hit open fruits with think rinds to get to the soft center. We see how well the mothers care for their young. Much of it is instinct. But baby and adult apes smile when playing and when held. I don't think monkeys smile. They help injuried family members and sick members. I know apes do more 'humanlike' things than monkeys do.

Of course they do. If you are creating a research paper--definitely have your definition of what you think a "mind" is. Here is a listing of scholarly articles in regard to the cognitive reasoning of monkeys and apes.

A lot of living things have minds, and monkeys and apes are no exception.
Whether they have real intelligence to use tools and things like that, I'm not sure - neither are the scientists.

They most likely meet all of the criteria you propose. I subscribe to the theory that they have a permanent delegation in front of the creator asking him to provide proof positive that man is not descended from them because of our arrogance and bad behaviour.

Maybe this is the anwser youare looking for... popular belief is that dolphins and monkeys are "self aware" although studies suggest that the only creatures on this planet "we know of" that are self aware are chimpanzees and orangutans...besides humans

Chimps can certainly plan ahead, and work co-operatively. What do you mean by "mind", though?
