What is a small and lightweight notebook for under $1000?

I want something about the same size as an IBM Thinkpad X series (12.1"). It can be either brand new or used. Something for mostly taking notes in class and using Wi-fi on campus. Can someone give me some suggestions?

HP DV2000 series laptop. You can get them from most electronics retailers such as best buy, comp usa, office depot, circuit city, etc.

I would recommend going to Gateway.com. They have notebooks starting at $599 that are 12 or 13 inches across. They have pretty good specs and I think there is a Tablet PC there as well for under $1000. Strongly recommend Gateway.
