Just wondered what the last year was that you could order a new Chrysler, Dodge, or Plymouth and have a 8 Track in dash style radio installed?

The last year I remember GM offering this was 1982 or 1983, as my Aunt had a new 1983 Cadillac Deville with a 8 Track AM/FM radio already installed.

So, does anyone know what was the last year Chrysler Corp offered the same thing?

Thanks.

This would be 1979 I belive if not 1980...they phased out at the same time Chrysler killed off the Apen/Volare models in favor of the new front wheel drivers like the

Horizon, Omni, Champ, 2.2 Chargers and Rampage pickups you'd be pretty ahrd pressed to find an 8 track in one of those...

In Sept. 2005 I bought a very rare 1979 "Duster" optioned Volare with many neat and unique features...

one of the options at that time that is interesting is a AM/FM Radio/CB/8 track player all in one unit... very hard to find and seldome seen now but I found one for it...

by late 1979 8 tarcks were mostly already replaced by casste players the tapes were more compact to carry and the players and tapes had less trouble... by then most listeners had worn out the lod favorite 8 track tape out so it wouldn't play anyway
