It means you haven't spoken in a while.

If it is from someone you know then it is someone who is missing chatting with you, I would say it to a mate who I'd not emailed or heard from them for a few days/weeks depending on how often we would normally chat.

It's a friendly greeting telling you that you have been missed. Email them back before they think you have dropped off the face of the earth!

If it is in the subject of an email from an unknown address/name then it will be spam, probably trying to sell you porn or viagra! Don't open it in case it's a virus, just delete it and forget about it!

RE:
What does it mean when someone writes "Hello Stranger" in the subject line of an email to you?

If you can identify the sender from the e mail address, this subject line would mean that you haven't corresponded with him/her for quite some time.
If the sender is not someone known to you, the e mail could be spam, or the message could carry a virus (especially if it has an attachment). In either case, it is better not to open the mail and delete it.

It's either junk mail trying to sell me something or junk mail telling me I've won the lottery in a foreign country and need to give my credit card number, social security number, address, first born child, and bank account up to get 'my' money.

Sorry to bust your bubble, but there are probably a half a dozen people hired to read her public e-mails (the ones from her fan sites) and I guarantee you are never going to get her private e-mail address, so just send a nice e-mail to what site you have and let it go at that.
