i am having a hard time trying to decide btw the two. i would like to live overseas and ultrsound would allow me to do so , but there are potential work injuries such as carpal tunnel related with ultrasound
on the other hand , paralegal is a good solid career field .i only see stress and having to dress up for work as the only vices.
both pay very well and do not restrict me to a specific part of the US.
i just dont know ? can anyone help??

I'm going for my general u/s.

All I can say is if carpal tunnel scares you, then you might want to rethink being a paralegal too. I personally love the medical field and enjoy all aspects. You can become a traveling technician, which is soooo great! That's my goal. You can go anywhere.

It's whatever your goals are...I think carpal tunnel is a stupid reason for deciding between to completely different fields. paralegals spend lots of time typing too! See my source below.......

I am a paralegal, and think you might have a hard time moving from state to state in that career due to the differences in the law. A coworker moved to NY from another state about 10 years ago, and had to learn (and sometimes still has to double check) the correct procedures.

Carpal tunnel is a concern if you are in a paralegal job that requires significant keyboarding. I input most of my own work. I would imagine that ultrasound techs have ways to prevent such injuries, just as we (a law office) have changed out setups, etc. in order to do so.

I have investigated the ultrasound tech job - If you are in a college town, the field is pretty saturated. However, if you are single with no particular ties, there is a lot of work for a "traveling ultrasound technician", You can go to a place for a few months at a time, they will arrange for accomodations and pay you a LOT of money.

I don't know about the job prospects these days for either, but I have heard that to get a job as a paralegal, once must have a bachelor's degree in either paralegal or another field and have gone to school to learn about paralegal.

supply and demand..check your state.
ultrasonographers are in great need here in calif. over 40.00 per hour with many medical and health benefits. You can get into a program for just U.Sound and you will be on your way to more options...a traveler has most expenses paid for and a great salary while traveling the states..
Yes, there are precautions one has to take to prevent all types of work related injuries.
Good Luck.
