superscript is like an exponent. V to the 10th power over V to the 2nd power V^10/V^2 = V^8

the answer is V to the 8th power (10-2)

Very simple. The rule is when dividing exponents and the bases are the same, keep the base and SUBTRACT the exponents. That is what your formula states. Your problem is v^10 divided by v^2. The bases are the same,v, so keep it and subtract the exponents...10-2=8. Put it together and you get v^8.

it is v8
the superscript is the expnoent, when dividing, subtract the exponent of the denominator from the numerator.
if the denominator's exponent is larger, then write it as a whole number with a negative exponent
