yes, my dad would get weird with friends oer and once they left he would be normal. Like he had to prove he was the boss around the house or something.

I lived my entire childhood like that. I had a lot of close friends, but they were never invited to my house...I always went to theirs. The couple of times I dropped my guard and had someone over, something bad always happened. Either mom was drunk again, or dad would be in his typical "bad mood" and find some way to belittle me in front of my friends. Fortunately, I had good friends who didn't hold my parents against me.
