Yes, highlight the columns that you want to change the size for, then right click on one of the columns' letters (A10 for example) and select Column width, and set to the size you want.

Alternatively you can click on the line between the columns and drag them to the size you want, though this is a little inexact.

i believe you may be asking a different question than is being asked.
i believe you want different widths within the same column.

What you have to do is highlight two or three rows and merge them. then this new column will have two or three columns within its width that you can change. however, whatever you change the width of the three in the middle to, or if you change the width of the larger one, the others will be changed. but you can go back and readjust when you're ready for final formatting.

have fun

Check in the help file to search for Merging cells. You can merge cells A1-A10 with cells B1-B10, nad leave A11-A20 not merged with the cells in the next column.

As was mentioned by bill@ca you would need to merge cells together to get your widths different. For example, you would highlight A1-A10 and B1-B10 and then merge across. Then you will be able to click and drag the column width as necessary.

and the question is?

you just want to equalize them?

you can place the cursor between 2 rows (columns too but you were describing rows) and adjust the width....if you select a range of rows (or just multiple rows non sequenced using control + selet) it will adjust the width on all of them the same.

If you want to equalize the entire workbook you can use the select all cells (upper left corner) and size them all the same.

Yes. Select the range of those colums, and change the width to the desired one. Agan select the next batch and do the same.

No, but there is a workaround that might work. Use two columns and then for the ones you need to be wider, select them and merge them. (Format-> Cells-> Alignment-> check the "merge cells" box) They you essentially have wide cells for the ones you merged and then two narrower ones for the ones you didn't merge.

Highlight the cells you are having problems with, then click "format", then columns, then either set "width" or autoformat....
