I've got a few feather-backed pennies that are in various stages of being dirty (from somewhat dirty to very dirty) and i'm wondering what the best way to clean them is.

Vinegar, HOWEVER the vast majority of coin collecting experts say DO NOT clean old coins as it knocks the value off like you wouldn't believe.

Any coin dealer can recommend a cleaner and they most likely sell it in their shop.

An cheap & easy alternative is acetone which is basically fingernail polish remover. Some will turn the pennies pink slightly. DO NOT use this polish remover on foreign coins. Their copper looking coins are not copper at all and will damage them.

Your "feather backed" pennies are actually "Wheat Pennies".

Get a pitcher of vinegar or lemon juice. upload usual table salt and combine. The salt will react with the acid and form a smooth hydrochloric acid. placed the pennies in for round 5 minutes and then wash them off.

Simple, good old ketchup, just rob it on till you can see the shine and then wash it of with water and your pennies will shine like new.
