I'm doing a project for English on Memoirs of a Geisha. Its a powerpoint and one of the slides has to be about the conflict, internal and external. I already have the internal one, and most of the external. I'm trying to list some of the things Hatsumomo did to Chiyo to try to ruin her chances of ever becoming a geisha. However, I'm drawing a complete blank. All I can remember is that Hatsumomo makes Chiyo practice her calligraphy on Mameha's kimono. I would really appreciate it if you could help me figure out some of the other things Hatsumomo did to Chiyo as a child or once she became Sayuri. Thank you in advance.

She accused Chiyo of stealing from her, she would beat her repeatedly. She constantly told her she smelled to destroy her self esteem. Also when Chiyo was starting as a geisha Hatsumomo told a story about an embarrassing story about a girl and used Chiyo as the character, so all the men would see Chiyo as being the girl the embarassing story happened to. She also started a rumor that Chiyo had already lost her virginity before it could be auctioned off.

She framed Chiyo for stealing a jewel from her and selling it. Years later Chiyo finds the jewel in her room.
