Sesshamuru and Innuyasha are half brothers that share the same father. Sesshamuru's mother was a demon and thus his powers are superior to that of Inuyasha's whose mother was human. I recall there was an episode when a demon took on the form of his mother to trick Inuyasha but in the end gives up her life to protect him.

next time spell his name right!!! his name is sesshomaru or sesshoumaru!!! no, inuyasha and sesshomaru have the same dad but different moms!! sesshomaru's mom appears in the manga but hasnt appeared in the anime...inuyasha has a human mother named izayoi...she died a long time ago while i believe sesshomaru's mom is still alive!!
