I dont like that trade for you at all. Zito's good, but don't confuse him with 2002 Zito, Wang will give you wins, and an ERA that won't hurt you, but a lot of his periferal stats indicate last year was a bit fluke-y. Borowski has a tenuous hold on the closer job (at best) and Connor Jackson projects out to be a Mark Grace like best - really no more than the #15 1B.

Alou will have a good season on the Mets, Helton will be about the same as Jackson and Magglio should be real good with Sheff in the line up. The rest are just throw-aways.

Starting and relief pitching are typically volitile. Don't give up a steady comodity (hitting) for something thats more risky (pitching)

depends on how desparate your needs are. It looks like the only 2 useable guys you get are Zito and Wang - maybe Conner Jackson if you are trading away your only 1B.
In std 5x5 I would say no.
Valentin is a career .243 hitter and last year may have been a fluke, you should be able to do better on waivers. Borowski is a border line closer and could blow up at any time and they have 2 pitchers they tried last year at taking over the position so they won't hesitate to remove him if he repeats his ERA. Connor is solid but Helton is in a much better postion this year. Maggs is a plug and play guy that you just put in the lineup and you will get the numbers as advertised every week.
Wang is over rated, he plays for a team that scores a lot of runs. His K numbers are below Kenny Rogers and his WHIP and batting avg against is higher - he could be a couple of pitches away from giving up big runs this year. Zito is unknown, he is switching leagues and may have the advantage in a weak hitting division. Vargas just loves the long ball - watching it go. You might want to check the wire on that one, he will face the Cards, Cubs and Houston a bunch of times.
Moisture Alou will be avg, but will add 23-26 HR's and play about 140 games.

I wouldn't. You're talking about trading established hitters (alou, helton, ordonez) for spotty pitchers and unproven talent. Zito is solid, but he's switching leagues, and he's logged a lot of innings over his career. Look at what happened to Tim Hudson and Mark Mulder the first season after they left Oakland. Not too impressive.

Unless you think Connor Jackson is going to be an MVP candidate this year, I wouldn't even consider it. I don't think he will be, so my answer is no.

yes all of the players you listed less vargas are potential injury problems for you. Make the trade.
